Mark Elkin
Mark Elkin is the managing partner at Thompson, Tooze, McLean & Elkin and has over 15 years of experience in civil litigation. Prior to attending law school, Mark Elkin enjoyed a career as a claims adjuster and claims supervisor within the insurance carriers industry in Canada. Through this experience, Mark Elkin garnered an advantage that few insurance litigators possess.
Upon his call to the bar in 1991, Mark Elkin joined the law firm of Sawers, Liswood, Scott, Hickman and practiced in the area of medical malpractice and general insurance litigation. He joined the law firm of Thompson, Tooze, McLean & Elkin in 1992 and quickly rose through the ranks to become partner in 1996.
During his career as a lawyer, Mark Elkin has argued numerous successful jury and non-jury trials. He has appeared at all levels of courts in Ontario and has built a reputation as being one of the premiere trial lawyers in Ontario. Mark Elkin has also argued numerous threshold motions under Bill 59 and tried one of the first Bill 198 trials in Ontario. He is now considered by many as one of the leading authorities in this regard. Mark Elkin has lectured at various insurance litigation conferences. His experience in the insurance industry, as well as his vast court room experience, provides him with a unique set of skills, well suited to the defence of insurance and personal injury law suits.
