Richard D. McLean Q.C., is the senior partner at Thompson, Tooze, McLean and Elkin and has over 50 years of experience in civil litigation. He began his career at Thompson, Tooze as an articling student in 1957 and has practiced law with the firm since his call to the bar in 1959. He became a partner in 1963.

EXPERIENCE

Richard D. McLean Q.C. has represented many Canadian insurance companies at all levels of courts in Ontario. He has also represented various American insurance companies relating to complex insurance defence and excess insurance litigation. Richard D. McLean’s Q.C. practice is restricted to complex insurance and personal injury litigation as well as general counsel work.

Over the years, Richard D. McLean Q.C. has conducted numerous jury and non-jury trials involving personal injury and product liability actions. In addition to his practice as a senior litigator, Richard D. McLean is an experienced mediator and as such is called upon to mediate various types of litigation matters
